Connecting Multiple Instrument Models to One Riding APP

Use model capabilities to expose supported features while retaining each model’s display, transport and vehicle interfaces.

Let the APP expose each model’s supported features

Instrument models may share a phone APP while using different displays, Bluetooth configurations and vehicle interfaces. Infinite Ride uses model-level business and communication capabilities, with actual display and video specifications supplied by the terminal, to present the supported features.

Manufacturers reuse the phone experience while keeping model differences in capability configuration and terminal integration. A new model still needs its own hardware assessment; copying every capability from an existing model is not enough.

Map each feature to an interface

Choose the battery, mileage, navigation, notification and control functions the product needs. Identify the data source, execution interface and display behavior for each one.

Battery state requires a real source. A horn command requires a vehicle interface. Navigation video requires networking, decoding and display support. Expose a capability to riders only after its complete path is integrated.

Separate received commands from completed actions

The SDK validates and carries commands; the vehicle controller executes them. Firmware should report success or failure from the actual operation so the APP can show the correct result.

This helps avoid repeated taps, unclear command status and stale values after disconnecting. A successful Bluetooth write is not an execution result.

Keep validation records per model

  • Does the APP show the correct controls after pairing and reconnection?
  • Do unconfigured or unimplemented operations remain unavailable?
  • Can the APP receive a failed vehicle-operation result?
  • How does the terminal handle duplicate requests, disconnects and expired state?

Record these results on target phones and hardware before release. A defined capability set gives engineering, testing and support teams a consistent product description.
